After a shop sale

What the buyer's receipt page and email show, your sale email, the daily email allowance, and where a shop sale appears in the dashboard.

3 min read

When a shop purchase is paid, three things happen: the buyer's receipt page on your shop shows what you wrote for that product, Fianto emails the buyer (if they gave an email) and you, and the sale shows up in your dashboard like any other.

The receipt page

After paying a one-time purchase, the buyer's checkout receipt has "Continue to" your shop, which opens the shop's receipt page. Once the purchase is paid it shows "Thank you, your payment is confirmed", your message under "A message from the merchant" and your link; for a subscription it also links to "Manage your purchase".

A shop receipt page: Thank you, your payment is confirmed, the product and shop name, A message from the merchant with the merchant's text, and an Add credits button.

While the payment is still pending it shows "Confirming your payment…", and it never shows your message or link before the purchase is paid. A one-time purchase counts as paid when its order is Paid; a subscription, when the subscription exists and its first payment succeeded.

A subscription's checkout receipt has no link back to your shop, so a subscriber sees your message and link through Fianto's email. Set Buyer email to "Required" for a product whose link must reach its buyers.

Receipts are not tied to one buyer

Anyone who has the receipt link sees your message and link, for example someone the buyer forwards the email to. Your link is the address you typed, so it opens for anyone who has it. The message is one text per product, the same for every buyer, and it changes for all of them when you edit it. Don't put anything behind it that must reach only one person.

The emails

If the buyer gave an email, Fianto emails them "Your purchase from" followed by your business name, with your message, your link and a link to the receipt. Replies go to your support email.

The buyer email: Thanks for your purchase from Quillfern Labs, the product name, the merchant's message, a receipt link and This message was written by Quillfern Labs. Fianto processed the payment.

You get "New sale:" followed by the product name, at the address set in "Shop settings" under "Sale notifications", or at your account email when that is empty. It says who bought ("Buyer:" and their email, or "The buyer did not leave an email.") and links to your orders in the dashboard.

Each email counts against your shop's allowance of 200 emails a day, the sale email and the buyer email one each. An email over that allowance, or over Fianto's own daily limit, waits for the next day. A waiting email goes out only while the purchase is less than 6 days old. When a purchase reaches 6 days and an email is still waiting, Fianto marks it not sent ("Email not sent" or "Sale email not sent" under the purchase) and never sends it later, not even when the buyer opens their receipt.

In your dashboard

The Shop page's "Recent purchases" lists the last 50 purchases with "Pending", "Paid", "Expired" or "Failed", the buyer's email or "No email given", and View order.

The Shop page: Your shop, Published, and Recent purchases with Pending and Paid purchases, each with the buyer's email and View order.

Every shop sale is an ordinary checkout session of an application named "Shop", which your first shop creates, or the first time a payer presses the pay button on one of your open payment links, whichever comes first. Its order, payment, customer and subscription show up in Orders, Payments, Customers and Subscriptions like any other, with an order ID that starts with shop_.

The Shop application is listed in Developers: you can set its webhook URL to receive the shop's webhooks, but you cannot rename it, disable it or give it API keys. Your payment links' payments arrive at the same webhook URL, marked source: payment_link instead of source: shop, with an order ID that starts with plink_. See Shop sales in your integration.
