Fees

How Fianto's service fee is set, computed, paid and shown, and how gross and net appear in your reports.

3 min read

Fianto's service fee is capped at 10 % of the price. It is added on top of the price, the payer pays it, and it goes to Fianto's treasury in the same transaction that pays you. You always receive the full price.

The service fee in one place

  • Fianto's service fee, capped at 10 % of the price.
  • Added on top: the payer signs for the price plus the fee; you receive the price.
  • Paid by the payer, to Fianto's treasury, in the same transaction, and only when the fee is above zero.
  • Fixed on the session when your server creates it.
  • Rounded down in the payer's favour.
  • Shown to the payer as a "Service fee" line on the checkout page.

How the fee is computed

The fee is a share of the price, counted in basis points (hundredths of a percent), so 10 % is 1,000 basis points. Fianto computes it on the price in USDC's smallest unit (0.000001 USDC) and drops any remainder, so a rounding difference always favours the payer. The payer pays the price plus the fee.

For example, with a placeholder fee of 2.5 % (not Fianto's fee) and a price of 12.345677 USDC:

USDC
Price (you receive)12.345677
Service fee: 12.345677 × 2.5 % = 0.308641925, rounded down0.308641
Total the payer signs for12.654318

In webhook payloads the same three numbers are amount, fee_amount and total_amount, as strings in USDC's smallest unit: total_amount is amount plus fee_amount.

When the fee is fixed

The fee is fixed on a checkout session when your server creates it, so a later change never alters a session that is already open.

A subscription keeps its fee for its whole life. Each subscription plan on Solana is tied to the price, your receiving wallet, the fee and the treasury. When the fee changes, the next subscription session for that price gets a new plan; new subscribers pay the new fee, and existing subscribers keep paying the fee they subscribed with. Each renewal pulls the price to your wallet and, when the fee is above zero, the fee to Fianto's treasury. See the Subscriptions program.

What the payer sees

The checkout page's summary always has a "Service fee" line: "Subtotal", "Service fee" and "Total" for a payment; "Price", "Service fee" and "Due today" for a subscription. When the fee is zero, the line says "None". The payer also pays the Solana network fee in SOL and, to subscribe, account rent; neither is Fianto's fee. See What it costs.

Gross and net in your reports

The dashboard's Overview counts the succeeded payments of one month (UTC):

  • Gross volume is what payers paid, the service fee included.
  • Net to your wallet is what you received.
  • Service fees is the total of the fees, with the note "The service fee is added on top and the payer pays it."

The payments export has the same split in its columns "Gross (what the customer paid)", "Fee" and "Net (what reached your wallet)", ticked by default, and an optional "Fee rate (basis points)". See Exports.

The fee is not taken out of your price

Your price is what you receive. Whenever the fee is above zero, the payer pays more than your price: the price plus the service fee.
