# Reclaim rent (/payers/reclaim-rent)

Starting a subscription paid Solana account rent, in SOL, for the subscription's own account on
Solana. Once the subscription has ended and been cancelled on Solana, you can close that account
from Fianto's subscriptions portal, at fianto.xyz/my, and the rent goes back to your wallet.

## Before you start [#before-you-start]

* You are signed in to the portal with the wallet that paid the rent. See
  [Your subscriptions](/payers/your-subscriptions).
* The subscription shows "Ended" in the portal.
* It has been cancelled on Solana, and its period there has ended. A subscription you cancelled
  yourself already is; one that ended any other way needs **Cancel on Solana** first. See
  [Cancel a subscription](/payers/cancel-a-subscription).
* A little SOL in the wallet for the network fee.

The portal says when the rent can be reclaimed: "You can reclaim this subscription's account rent
from" a date.

## Steps [#steps]

**Step 1.**

### Open the ended subscription [#open-the-ended-subscription]

Open the subscription with **View details**. Under **Manage this subscription**, press **Reclaim
account rent**. The portal explains that the subscription's account on Solana holds rent this
wallet paid when you subscribed, and that closing it gets that rent back.

**Step 2.**

### Check the details [#check-the-details]

Before you sign, the portal says that this closes this subscription's own account on Solana and
sends the rent held in it back to this wallet. It does not change your wallet's shared approval
for the Solana Subscriptions program, or any other subscription. Your wallet pays a small Solana
network fee in SOL.

**Step 3.**

### Approve in your wallet [#approve-in-your-wallet]

Press **Approve in wallet** within 30 seconds and approve the transaction. Keep the page open while
Solana confirms it.

> **Only this subscription's rent comes back:**
>
> A reclaim returns the rent of this subscription's own account, and you pay the network fee for
> it. If starting a subscription also set up your wallet's shared USDC subscription account, that
> part of the rent is never returned by a reclaim: every subscription on the wallet relies on that
> shared account.

## Check it worked [#check-it-worked]

> The portal says "Done. This subscription's account on Solana is closed, and its rent went back to
> this wallet." The rent shows in your wallet's SOL balance.

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

| You see | Why | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "This subscription has not been cancelled on Solana yet." | The subscription ended in Fianto, but not on Solana. | Use Cancel on Solana first; the rent can be reclaimed once its current period there has ended. |
| "This subscription's current period has not ended on Solana yet, so its rent cannot be reclaimed." | It was cancelled on Solana, but that period is still running. | Reload the page to see the date from which you can. |
| "This subscription's rent cannot be reclaimed from here" | It has not ended, this wallet did not pay its rent, or the rent was already reclaimed. | Reload the page to see what you can do. |
| "This needs the wallet you signed in with" | The wallet you connected is not the one you signed in with. | Switch to that account in your wallet, then start again. |
| "That request took too long to approve, so Fianto did not send it." | The prepared transaction expired before you approved it. | Start again and approve it in your wallet straight away. |
