# Customers (/merchants/customers)

A customer in Fianto is a wallet that has paid you. **Customers** ("Each wallet that has paid
you.") lists them, and each customer's page shows their most recent orders, payments and
subscriptions.

## When a customer is created [#when-a-customer-is-created]

Fianto creates a customer only when a payment from a wallet finalizes, and only once per wallet:
every later payment from that wallet belongs to the same customer. An order nobody has paid has no
customer yet.

"A customer is one wallet. The same person paying from a second wallet is a second customer." The
wallet that counts is the one the USDC actually came from.

## The email on a customer [#the-email-on-a-customer]

The email is what the payer typed at checkout, if they typed one. Fianto does not verify it, and
the dashboard shows it as "entered by the payer, not verified". A later payment with the email left
blank never erases one that is already there.

> **Do not treat the email as proof of identity:**
>
> Anyone can type any address at checkout. Use it to reach the payer, not to confirm who they are.

## Only in the dashboard [#only-in-the-dashboard]

Customers are only in the dashboard: the v1 API has no customers endpoint. To take the list
elsewhere, use **Export** on the **Customers** page.

## Finding a customer [#finding-a-customer]

Search is exact: paste a whole customer id (`CUS-12` or `fian_cus_…`), a whole wallet address or a
whole email. Part of an address or an email finds nothing.
